About the riad

A house in the heart of the Medina, shaped by its history.

Palais Andara is a riad and spa in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, a house marked by time and by the lives that have filled it. Its Moroccan architecture, authentic materials, and contemporary comfort meet here, in keeping with the art of living and the craftsmanship of the Red City.

Our story

One house, many lives, the same soul.

Before it became Palais Andara, this house belonged to a pasha, a well-known figure in the neighbourhood. After his death, it became home to an artisans’ cooperative and, over the years, a place where Marrakchi skills were passed on.

Here, people wove, embroidered, and worked leather. Their hands brought materials to life and kept precious gestures alive, from handmade rugs and cushions to babouches, along with the treasures of the Moroccan land: amlou, argan oil, black soap, ghassoul, and nila.

When a Moroccan family took over the house, a new chapter began, without erasing the ones before it. The renovation drew on the memory of the place and the colours of Morocco: the shades of nila, the warm tones of amlou and argan oil, and the deep hues of leather and the tanneries carry right through to the rooms.

The Moroccan architecture has been preserved and enhanced around the inner courtyard and its pool. Hand-laid zellige, carved plaster, woodwork, and tadelakt have come back to life through the skill of local maâlems, whose gestures carry on a tradition that is still very much alive.

Today, every space bears a trace of these legacies and tells, in its own way, a piece of the story of Marrakech.

What we hold dear

Three things that give Palais Andara its soul.

01

Preserved calm

A few lanes from the bustle of the souks, the riad reveals another rhythm. The murmur of water, the coolness of the courtyard, and the gentleness of the place invite you to slow down, far from the tumult of the Medina.

02

Moroccan craftsmanship

From zellige to carved cedar and hand-worked tadelakt, every detail celebrates the richness of materials and the talent of the maâlems who carry on the gestures of Moroccan craft.

03

Heartfelt hospitality

Welcoming from the heart, anticipating wishes, remembering the little things. A Moroccan hospitality that is not told but felt, in every attention, every smile, and that gentle sense of being expected.

A sense of place

Here, time no longer holds sway.

At Palais Andara, the hours pass differently. A breakfast that lingers, a mint tea shared as evening falls, light brushing across the courtyard… There is a particular gentleness in this house, inherited from the Moroccan art of living and from a hospitality that cares as much about gestures as about people. A living house, where the simplest moments sometimes take on a place of their own, and where you naturally feel a little at home.
